Suffer The Witch - Update

Some of you may be wondering how it's going with my article on Exodus 22:18. Well, I'm still writing. I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to devote as much time to it, but it's coming along!

I'll keep you posted...

"Suffer The Witch - Part I"

House Showing...Again!

Well, the same people that looked at our house yesterday came back to look again. Well, not everyone...the young man didn't bring his wife and child, but brought his dad along to look our house over.

They arrived about 5:45pm and spent about an hour in the house and asked lots of questions. I think that everything went well and hope that this will be the couple that buys our house.

I'll keep you updated!

Pastors Just Work On Sundays and Wednesdays?

As a continuing process for my internship/mentor program for the KSOM, I met my pastor at our church this morning at 8:30am. I thought that he was just going to speak with me for thirty minutes or so and then I would head back home. Wrong! Pastor asked me what I had going on until around 2:00pm. I said, "oh, nothing." So he said I could just hang out with him and shadow him to get a taste of what he does on a typical day. For fun, I decided to log everything that happened for the day. Our day was packed...take a look!

9:00am
*Pastor worked with Melissa (church secretary) on the Capital Campaign materials for the P.I.E. meetings. He wanted .PDFs of building blueprints/sketches and brochures to hand out at the meeting.

9:10am
*Pastor was on the phone with Eric to come over to the church and fix a leaky sink.
*Pastor asked Melissa to print out driving directions to David and Bea's house at 372 Winton Ave
*Pastor called a shut-in, Hans Steyn, to setup a visitation and communion for next Thursday at 10:00am. He also prayed with him over the phone.

9:15am
*Pastor called and left a voice message for Eric and Emily.
*Pastor called David and Bea to check up on them and ask if it would be okay to stop by and visit with them at 10:00am.

9:20am
*Pastor called and spoke with Faye (and Jerry) to let them know he was thinking of them, praying for them and seeing if they needed anything.

9:25am
*Pastor shares with me the new book from NavPress that they are using in the "New Beginnings" discipleship class, "Growing In Christ".
*Pastor makes a quick glance at the PDF printouts Melissa provided and puts them in order before we head out the door.

9:30am
*Pastor and I get in his car and head toward David and Bea's house.

10:00am
*We finally arrive at David and Bea's house!
*I learn that David and Bea were among the 25 charter members at Trinity Chapel in August 1965.
*They both have been serving the Lord since an early age.

10:35am
*As we pray and are about to leave David and Bea's house, Pastor asks a cabinetry worker in their house if he "knows the Lord". The worker responds that he does and attends Southeast Christian.
*Pastor and I get in his car and head to Baptist East hospital to visit with John Welch.

11:00am
*Pastor and I arrived at Baptist East and went to John's room (405).
*We prayed for John and his heart problems as well as for his wife, Dorothy.
*When Pastor asked him if there was anything else he could do for him, John said that there was nothing more important that one man could do for another than prayer.

11:10am
*Pastor and I left the hospital to head to Jewish hospital to visit Eric Layman in rom 518.

11:45am
*Pastor and I arrived at Eric's room only to find that he was being released after getting medical attention for a stroke...at age 33!

12:30pm
*Pastor and I prayed with Eric and his mother and father and left the hospital to grab some lunch.

12:40pm
*Pastor and I arrived at "Another Place Sandwich Shop" in downtown Louisville.
*Pastor had the Reuben and I had a meatball sub.

1:20pm
*We left "Another Place" to head back to the church.
*Pastor spent time on the way back checking his voice mails and calling in to check in at the church.

1:40pm
*We arrived at the church and I headed home!

If anyone thinks that a pastor just sits around with his feet propped up and just works for a couple of hours on Sunday and Wednesday should definitely hang out with a pastor for a couple of hours to find out the truth!
